Detroit Shock Rocker Vincent “Alice Cooper” Furnier received notice late last night that he and his Billion Dollar Babies will be amongst The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2011 inductees during a ceremony to be held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City March 14th, I guess that even the RARHOF themselves want to stay away from Cleveland. The 62 year old Detroit Native joins an ever growing list of Michigan Made (born and/or raised) Artists and Groups that now number 24.

Cooper states in his latest interview about his induction, that he believes “that the motor city scene was instrumental in our style and longevity. I’m so proud to say that I’m from Detroit”. Cooper left for Arizona in his early teens, but returned home a few years later with his band to finally hit the big time in the mid 70’s. “It was Detroit who kept screaming for us to turn it up. So we did” explains Cooper, “it’s where we belong” refereeing to Detroit. Cooper hasn’t thought much about the ceremony but figures “we’ll play School’s Out and Eighteen, the two anthems I figure most people will want to hear.”
