 It’s that time of year again when Metro Times invades Hamtramck with their 11^th Annual Metro Times Blowout with 230 bands at 20 different venues over a 4 day stretch, making this year’s event the world’s largest local music festival of its kind. Each year, it invades Hamtramck’s bars and pubs, for a heavy heaping of local music madness all for the purchase of a $20 wristband that gives you access to all the venues & shows! The best part of the Blow Out is the fact that it is impossible to see all the bands, don’t even try to “stay” on  schedule, besides you will inadvertently decide mid-point of a set, to stay “just one more song” from a band you never heard of before, rendering your hours of planning useless! But hey, that’s OK; it’s supposed to be like that.

Believe us folks, you can set out on a path you deem appropriate and we’ll guarantee you’ll be raving about “this band” long after you realize you missed out on one of your favorites! It’s a cultural event, albeit musically, like no other you will experience in our city. From the obscure, insane, wacky, rock, country, metal, rap, emo and indie, there is something for everyone inside the 4 days of the Blowout. You’ll find out just how many people enjoy roaming from bar to bar, many within walking distance of each other, while others will require you to hop into one of the many shuttles that’ll be cruising around, or as Dr2 has learned from past experience, your own vehicle. Yes, your own vehicle…..believe us, you’ll find a spot to park and this will allow you much greater flexibility to either stay longer at each venue or jump ship if need be. Besides, you’ll be able to keep your favorite beverages on hand to side step that Molson dictatorship present throughout the Blowout! It’s easy to get to & around Ham Town, but if this is your fist time, print out this map! Remember, the Launch Party is at the Majestic Complex in Detroit where you can see all the bands under one roof. This is just a starting point so use it as you will, veer off course if you wish, but by all means get to Hamtramck this week for THE BLOWOUT!!
